Around the World in 80 Days (#3 and #4) Painting

These paintings are part of the series "Around the World in 80 Days" and are studies for larger works. The central symbol in the painting represents the waves of the sea. I am traveling the world by ship. The shape is round, I always come back. The painting has clear brushstrokes but also transparent layers that partially obscure underlying layers. Working with transparent layers is characteristic of my work. These two paintings are in a way identical. #3 has a transparent layer of dark blue in the background which gives it the nighttime look. So these are the night and day versions of roughly the same image. These two paintings are not necessarily diptychs. They can be hung next to each other, but also under each other or in a room opposite each other. Painted in 2022 and 2023
