Anyway you Look at It Painting

When I paint, I work on the panel in all four orientations.Generally as the piece develops one orientation begins to dominate. However, "Anyway you Look at It" got its name because this painting works will regardless of how it is hung--vertically or horizontally! I had asked a painter friend to look at it with me to decide which was way best, but he finally declared it couldn't be held to one way or another! He loved it "anyway I look at it." Originally I was reacting to some very colorful layers of stone in a rock face near our home in Vermont, but then I began to see the glorious skies along Florida's beaches at sunset. The textures were built up with layer upon layer of paint mixed with cold wax and scraped back with a razor blade. The edges are painted--no framing in necessary
