About The Artwork

Amilia Earhart was the first female aviator to fly solo across the Atlantic Ocean. Numerous records and achievements followed. She was a great inspiration for other female pilots and aeronautical engineering and was regarded as a feminist icon. Some extra facts: During the Spanish flu pandemic, Earhart was engaged in nursing duties. She became a patient herself, suffering from pneumonia and maxillary sinusitis. Her convalescence lasted nearly a year. This was before she became a renowned pilot. Note to self: there will be victorious actions and adventures after Covid-19. The style of the painting is inspired by street art. I've worked with stencils in plastic to make sure the acrylic paint will get sharp edges. Some layers have screenprinted backgrounds: old airplanes, female pilots, a blueprint and pages from an old parish register around 1897. When Earhart was born. The more you look, the more details will appear.

Shipping & Returns

Delivery Time:Typically 5-7 business days for domestic shipments, 10-14 business days for international shipments.

Pia Lilenthal is a contemporary street mix-media artist. She combines stencil work with multiple layers and techniques in the backgrounds. It could be watercolor, acrylic paint, screen printing, collages of stamps. Or a mix of them all. Portraits are a common motif, often women, containing details connected to the person in the different layers. Her background as graphic designer and long experience of making sketches digitally, comes handy when planning compositions and different color combinations. The final artwork though, is always made by hand.
