Text translated from my Instagram post: ABOVE THE CLOUDS: That's where I'm going! After about 1 month of work, between conception and painting itself, I complete this 200x150cm work - entirely in oil - which is for sure my newest flagship in the series "A Dangerous Monkey". Much of what happened to me this year is represented in this work, so that it is practically a poem in the form of a painting. The "Ribbon of Life", in my favorite color, which is blue, goes through the path between bananas and strawberries, in order to connect what we often cannot express with words, just feel, even if grudgingly. All the words, feelings and what was marked in the soul these times, will have to be worked only by me, like an off-hook phone that can only connect itself - even though I long, inside, to one day experience certain dreams again, even though you know the risks of connecting with things beyond your control. The cloud background was directly inspired by my experience on the gigantic Illimani Mountain (Bolivia), and the view I had when I was descending it. It was as if I really was above all else, and I noticed that the problems that plagued me so much down there were much less than I thought. It's all a matter of perspective. Technically it is also a great evolution: spots have become spheres, giving volume and depth. It doesn't necessarily have to be like that in all the works, but in this way they gain a certain personality. In fact, the strawberries in this work are certainly the best I've ever painted: they took several days and layers, but I believe I finally found - after months and months of making - the "sweet spot" I was looking for. I'm insistent, I hit my head a thousand times but eventually I find my way. As they are now fundamental parts of the series, it needed to evolve, and so I did. A kiss, a hug, and lots of potassium for you! Eric
