A vast and ancient being Painting

It is said that all life on earth is created from the matter of long-dead stars. In my work, I strive to create quiet moments inspired by universal creative forces and to make visible that which is too small, too vast, and too slow to see. My visual language juxtaposes abstracted forms pushed to the horizon and elongated drippy, layers. The color palette is muted, neutral and tonal - tans, yellows, pinks, cream, and contrasting black. Inside a mushroom-arboreal-sea-alien creature floating on the horizon, is my custom hand-marbled papers that are evocative of patterns found in geological or astral phenomena. The juxtaposition of elements expresses my interest in the aesthetic parallels found within micro to macro worlds - from mycology to astronomy. The sprinkling of gold leaf references fungal spores and the star stuff that permeates everything. Painting is ready to hang on gallery-wrapped, deep-edge canvas that reveals the residue of the making process on the edges.
