About The Artwork
The painting was made during lockdown, at my studio in St.Ives in Cornwall. St.Ives is a very pretty seaside town and this is my sense of being in this place. It is a visual essay of the shapes, colours and feel of St.Ives but does not represent any particular scene or viewpoint. Instead I have used a jumbled up collection of shapes and colours of the place I like such as sea, sand and sky, roof tops, windows and hills. It is painting on a flat good quality canvas with a 5 cm depth. There are no handing features included on the back, the canvas is ready to hand on a hook or nail, or your personal choice of fixtures.

Originally from London, I moved to St Ives, Cornwall in 2010 . My preferred medium is oil and acrylic paint on canvas, and smaller scale gouache on paper. My paintings are created intuitively, without a clear idea of how the finished work will look. Ranging from minimal images to more complex 'landscapes' of paint that are built up slowly over time.The process is like creating a massive jigsaw puzzle, without a guiding image to work from. Inspiration is found in the visual world around me, taking colour combinations and shapes from anything and everywhere. I seek to create work that is uplifting or joyful.
