About The Artwork

I started working on this piece mixing old and modern aspects into the collage and suddenly Elvis appeared in the upper corner like some sort of Elvis God and then naturally Ann Margret had to make an appearance as well. So it only seemed natural in this year of 2020 to title it from one of my favorite Elvis songs. "A little less conversation, a little more action, please All this aggravation ain't satisfactioning me A little more bite and a little less bark A little less fight and a little more spark Close your mouth and open up your heart and, baby, satisfy me Satisfy me, baby"

Monica is a contemporary American painter. b.Vicenza, Italy ‘64. www.monicaleestudios.com @monicaleestudios “Primarily, my work is about passion and intimacy. I choose to forego the more traditional method of conveying this through the figure and express it through line, marks, and an abstracted view of the natural world. My work explores passion and intimacy, and I use abstract botanicals to express the age-old, timeless mysteries of romance, spirituality, and human nature. I am inspired by the high drama of Baroque art, following the trail of Renaissance art but applying the softer drama of the Impressionists in color, brushstroke, and light. Within my creative process, whether the medium is oil, acrylic, or watercolor, the natural world takes on feminine and masculine personas as I forge a new painting language that merges the spiritual and the physical. My goal is to capture a thin space, the space in between spaces, where there is a wonder that plays out as a progression, a movement, into a type of courtship, almost a dance that will lure the viewer in and invite them to exist in this same beautiful, enigmatic space.” Monica curates and writes about the creative process at THE SMART CREATIVE, which acts as her studio newsletter.
