A colourful passed Painting

Unlike most of my work that starts with an idea or reference that then gets committed to canvas, this was the opposite. I found the canvas, which is very sturdy and deserves to be hung as it is, and it almost dictated to me what should be on it. I had visions of something that captures the essence of autumn without feeling exclusive to the season. I used an array of colours that contrast and blend, playing with the depths of vision. This imagined scene takes the viewer on a journey through the painting with moments to rest your eyes and enjoy different textures (such as the palette knife markings of the trees or the much softer, barely there water). The title is a play on words designed to reflect the never ending change of nature as we pass it in time. This is mirrored in the changing of the leaves and the river flowing through, leaving it's marks and erosion whilst creating new opportunities and finally in the sky as the sun sets on another day leaving behind a world of memories. This is unframed and should remain as a box canvas. It is varnished and fitted with D-hooks and wire ready to be hung.
