About The Artwork
This lovely, large, coral, green and blue painting is part of a small series of protea pieces I painted around September 2016. The blue background of this piece has a washy, billowing, cloudy effect which contrasts the thickly layered paint and expressive brushstrokes of the protea blooms and leaves. The blooms are painted in shades of pink, from a dusty orange blush through confident pale rose up to a deep coral tone. The leaves range from mint to emerald, stopping in at lime and a lovely crisp forest green on the way.
