About The Artwork
The Atrium of the 3 Arts Club Cafe on Dearborn Street in Chicago is an incredible interior in an old and beautifully maintained neighborhood in the city. I spent a few hours in the space last year and was able to capture several sketches and photos for potential paintings. I was drawn to this view because of the way the light came in through the glass atrium, through the leaves of the olive tree, and highlighted the brick, waitress, and patrons sitting in the cafe. My intention is always to paint the feeling and emotion or mood of a place as much as the objects or people that populate that world.
