The present work is a reinterpretation that uses - and pays homage to - two works by the famous Brazilian painter Tarsila do Amaral: “Sacred Heart of Jesus” from 1904, her first painting, and “Romance”, from 1925. In my view, these two masterpieces affirm the power of the Sacred over the human soul, especially through the fusion that this reinterpretation proposes, demonstrating the warmth and light that emanate from the heart of the Son of God: a powerful and meaningful representation, especially for Christians, of the “ sacred fire ”, that “ piece of sun ”, a gift from the skies, offered to primitive humans by discharges from stormy clouds, providing them with warmth and protection in the dark nights, as long as it was nurtured and preserved with affection, just like everything that it is sacred to us. The artwork “Romance” - whose monochromatic representation I used as a background, making a reference to the strong Brazilianity of the cordel woodcuts (tradicional chapbooks) - portrays transcendental aspects that permeate life on earth: the seed that dies and bears fruit and the beauty of creation itself, expressed by Tarsila through the symmetry of plants in this work, beauty that can also be seen in the structure of each plant, where stems, branches, leaves and fruits develop according to precise rules of mathematics, the language of God.

My artistic voice is the product of a pop-graffiti fusion, heavily influenced by the pop art of the 60s and 70s, as well as street art aesthetics from the years 2000. My main technical approach is mix-media art, with intense use of high-contrast saturated colors and a plethora of images, textures and fragments of graffiti lettering, reminiscent of old walls that have accumulated layers and layers of advertisements, posters, paint and graffiti over time. By mixing disparate elements in my concepts - like graffiti and classical old movies stars portraits - I aim to make the impact of something that feels both fresh and timeless, infusing my art with a sense of nostalgia, while at the same time making it feel current and relevant. As an artist, I try to create works that are visually stunning and intellectually engaging, seeking to bring joy and contentment in a celebration of life, as a reminder to embrace the moment and find beauty even in the least likely of environments.
