About The Artwork
This piece is inspired by the surface of Mars. The texture and the colours are so vivid and otherworldly which I find fascinating. I hope to take viewers away from the everyday and inspire them to imagine themselves elsewhere. Even after making it, I found myself spotting new things in it such as patterns and shapes and making up stories about them. I chose alcohol ink and textured paste to try and recreate the varied and mystical nature of the planet and the resin to give it some extra depth. I have found that this piece is lovely because it is particularly tactile, with the resin and the paste giving a range of textures to it. Hanging hardware is included within this piece and the best quality materials have been used to create it.
