Fantasy Meets Reality Series: Vito Bonanno is an outsider artist that works with artist mentors to introduce him to new paint mediums and methods, but he is formally untrained and the art he creates is a true part of himself. In this series, Vito recently moved to a new city and many of his pieces from this series reflect the new people he met, places he visits and the fantasy characters his mind then creates from his new environment and experiences. He has included his fantasy characters mixed in with actual people and places of his daily life here in CT, making his classic colorful choices, this time in oil paint and India ink. His hyper-focused dream state style rings true in this recent series, with bold strong images to attract your attention and your imagination.

Vito Bonanno is a CT/New York based internationally collected artist, who brings his mix of hyper-focused autism inspired aesthetic, blending street art, pop culture and dreams from his unfiltered world to come alive on the canvas. Bonanno taps into the daily emotional and social challenges of living with autism, which fuels this hybrid dream-state aesthetic, where conceptual and abstract-expressionism styles collide to form enchanting and powerful results. Image and concept driven and embedded in his personal philosophy, his art contains the essence of his life, feelings, thoughts, fears and dreams, coupled around objects or topics that "get stuck in his head", including traffic lights, graffiti, ceiling fans, pop culture, buildings, people-real and imagined, and current world events. Creating art is his therapy, love, release and emotional rescue.
