About The Artwork

This work is inspired by the expressionism in Hip-Hop and the freedom poets and musicians have in terms of their ideas and to be verbal about things that they disagree with, the people with capabilities t paint their own worlds and be misunderstood and ridiculed by those who do not share the same background but appreciated by those they stand for and eventually they become images in the wall with their peers. This work has a rough texture and a shine is not really visible because there is dull parts in it. The work is waterproof and has a long preserving acrylic finish. I hope the viewers appreciate art, not painting but the art at large, I hope they not only embrace art in terms of either Afro-American or African Culture but make it about the world itself whether you on the side that courses the problems or the side that is being a victim in said subject of either equality or unfair treatment or even your voice shunned and not feel like you have been heard, I want you to say, "This painting can hear me." Whether we cuss the police or we celebrate them the goa; is to harmonize and embrace each other, hence I chose the medium, to have a side that is living rough and the side that is soft, the side that is Blue would be the actors in those acted upon but we unite in the middle where a man stands and we all become one. That is Eric Wright, a member of the NWA always, and one of the figures in what is known as Gangsta Rap and a legend in Hip-Hop a genre praised for its expressionism.

Born in Butterworth, Eastern Cape, South Africa and raised by a single mother with three other siblings. Mother was a singer at her early years, so music has been part of his life too and would be comfort and inspiration for him to pursue his own arts. His art styles comes from trials and errors of him trying to improve his art style as a self-taught artist. Realized the skill during COVID-19 times after losing his mother, the only comfort to his heavy heart was sketching, something he had been an interest of his for the most times of his life he decided to take things further, with attempts to drop out off school while doing his Bachelor of Arts degree at the University of Nelson Mandela. He later visited his philosophy notes, and stumbled upon Immanuel Kant's work, "Categorical imperative" which is a universal ethical principle stating that one should always respect the humanity in others, and that one should only act in accordance with rules that could hold for everyone. That alone answered the questions to his doubts and wanted to create without being judged or judging the next artist, he knew he had gained his freedom as an artist and thus he won't have methods and outlook other exiting works to be imposed on his own. As a painter, he seek to disrupt the status quo and challenge the conventions of art. Inspired by the rebellious spirit of Basquiat, he embraces a raw, unbridled approach to creativity. His work explores the intersections of identity, social justice, and emotions, often incorporating unconventional materials and techniques to convey a sense of urgency and freedom. Through his art, he aims to subvert the rules and norms that have been imposed upon us as artists, instead embracing the beauty of imperfection and the power of experimentation. His paintings are a reflection of his own experiences in the process of creating the various works, emotions, and perspectives, but also invite the viewer to question their own assumptions and biases. With a focus on texture, color, and expressive mark-making, his work is characterized by its rough, unapologetic quality – a deliberate rejection of the polished and the perfect. By embracing the imperfect and the unknown, he hope to create art that is not only visually striking but also thought-provoking and emotionally resonant.
