About The Artwork

This is an unusual piece of street art as I have used my own inked collage as the backdrop. I like to use luxury items as the canvas for these graffiti pieces as it underlines the consumerist world we live it. I also just really love the effect of applying my own graffiti to such an expensive pair of shoes. I grew up surrounded by magazines and following a stay in New York, the fusion between graffiti and collage was established.

Miss AL Simpson is an award winning OG cryptoartist with a unique style, merging a digital graffiti style similar to Basquiat, Rauschenberg and Kippenberger with 3D historical motifs and animation. Her work has been covered by the Washington Post, CNBC and the Financial Times. She has exhibited in London, New York, Paris, Tokyo and Vancouver. "In this digital avant-garde, Miss AL Simpson has become one of the chief protagonists of this new movement" BONHAMS Drawing on influences such as Kippenberger and Rauschenberg, Anna Louise uses found items such as billposters and magazines to build up a textured mixed media surface, in order to explore themes of confused popular culture. Layering her work with power and fragility; tales of passion and desire are exposed. At times, these stories are gentle whispers, at other times, they are loud and brash graffiti. Fragmented portraits hidden in urban landscapes reveal an honesty and broken reality; a mixed up version of the popular culture that submerges us all. Exploring the rips of popular culture and society's vulnerability, Anna Louise produces images of dystopic fragility...’a keeper of fragile things’.
