The work belongs to the “Bound by Blood” series that draws from Japanese mythology, literature and spirituality. Moving between the uncanny, dreams and the surreal, Skowrońska’s paintings explore the ambiguity of the world, relationships, and femininity, perceived as a fusion of beauty and hostility. The work is painted on a grey fabric canvas with the use of mix techniques, such as screen print, airbrush, drawing. The work is stretched over a round shape wooden panel.

Ewelina Skowronska is a Polish visual artist working between London and Tokyo. Ewelina's works and art practice weave together various media, including painting, printmaking, dyeing, drawing. The overarching theme of her recent works is an inquiry into how we can re-establish a connection to the intangible and invisible aspects of our surroundings, thereby acknowledging our dependence on nature and shedding the anthropocentric perspective. Through the investigation of the potential of natural plant dyes, as well as their historical, herbal, and magical properties, Skowronska focuses on ephemeral and unspoken aspects, using a combination of different mediums to produce a unique and powerful contrast. in 2015 Ewelina graduated from Camberwell Collage of Arts London, and since then her work was shown worldwide from Poland, UK, to Asia, and US. Her prints and painings are in collections like Spiral Wacoal Art Foundation, Japan, Guanlan Printmaking Museum, China, V&A Museum, London, Kala Art Institute.
