About The Artwork
This piece brings rich texture and modern tribal aesthetic provided by the natural cotton, line details, and hand foraged Lake Superior drift wood. When making these pieces I was inspired by classic marble statues and relief pieces, many of which come from ancient Rome. The sculptors’ abilities to emulate draping fabric, smooth skin, and human hair with such a dense medium is so beautiful to me. These pieces are my homage to the old and the new, the harsh and organic, and the natural and man-made. All of my driftwood is hand foraged from the shores of Lake Superior in northern Michigan. In addition to this, I source my 100% natural cotton rope from other small businesses just like mine. When you buy from me, know that you’re also supporting them!
