About The Artwork
I have always been fascinated by Oriental medicine and their use of medical message and acupuncture in the process of healing as well as Tai Chi. In the Chinese language ‘chi’ means energy. If one has observed the movements of Tai Chi they are measured, mysterious, direct movements which express a restrained power contained in their series of slow motion dance steps which appear as configurations of body posture reflecting patterned, methodical, and intentional expressions of how one’s body energy ‘chi’ can be bundled, controlled and reinforced. All these elements inspired me to make this drawing/painting that represents lines of energy and rhythm deriving from an anonymous human source that meander and flow as they elegantly sweep across the surface of the paper and continue beyond the borders of the paper in the mind of the observer.
