Chloe is an artist who can't help but look closer at the simple things in life. Drawn using Charcoal and Graphite, Chloe demonstrates a contemporary style mixed with traditional techniques. I am fascinated by the closer intricacies found in natural objects, plants are my current obsession, more specifically seaweed. Seaweed is particularly fascinating to me because of the accidental compositions the aquatic plant finds itself in when washed up on the shore. The seaweed I find is assumingly untouched, only transported via current to land on the sand of Cullercoats Bay. I find similarities between myself and the seaweed. We each have travelled turbulent distances to eventually land somewhere new, for the ocean to pull us back home again. I grew up on the beach where I photograph my subjects, yet it took me to move away from my home to become aware of its beauty (the beach and the seaweed). My work is a visual diary of my observations and a love note to my home before I return to the ocean again.
