About The Artwork

The title of the drawing immediately tells the viewer that this is a portrait of a scared, terrified, lonely man. It is a depiction of a man staring at his own death. The drawing is characterized by a neo-expressionist approach, primarily in the depiction of human faces in a caricature style, which appear to be on the verge of madness or a nervous breakdown. Thus, for the artist, the act of painting becomes a means of expressing a complex, psychological state. The work was created with unrestrained, free, linear strokes and small notches that give the compositional space an abstract character. The strength of this work of art resides precisely in the energy released by the signs and traces of gestures, and each new layer testifies to the growing fear. The rhythm of disturbing, wavy lines fills the atmosphere of the picture with a premonition of an inevitable, tragic end.

Serbian contemporary artist, designer and decorator. He is best known to the general public for his artistic nomadism and playing with different artistic styles as well as design works created in relation to artistic research from fine art to applied art (design) with the aim of problematizing and pointing out the absence of strict boundaries between them in contemporary artistic expression. These works are characterized by an interest in postmodernist ornamentalism and a mixture of historical styles taken from modern art. Various conflicting stylistic codes from the history of contemporary art allow mutual transformations. It is actually about artistic creativity that erases the boundaries and differences between high and popular art, between fine art and folk art.
