About The Artwork
I used charcoal, compressed charcoal and white chalk on craft paper so that I could work quickly, as this abstracted version of a Musician Playing Cello was drawn from a live model while she actually played. Rather than hold a pose, the model continually played Bach, Schubert & Prokofiev on the cello. This whole experience of drawing a model in motion, along with the live music, was exhilarating and unforgettable. I hope my work captures some of this joyfulness.
