About The Artwork
While this account of the work does not exhaust the set of interpretations, this piece was conceived by the notion that in October of 2013, Syrian clerics issued a fatwa or edits that allowed the inhabitants of the south of Damascus to eat dogs, cats and donkeys (impure animals) so they would not die of hunger due to the Syrian civil war. There is also a play on words in the original title. In Spanish, the city Damascus and the people Damascenes have the same meaning as the fruit, apricot. Pen and ink on paper
