'Energy or 'Chi' is Back' Drawing

Those who know the Chinese word for energy, it means chi, and that means the flow or channeling of body energy. It my life in The Netherlands, besides pursuing my career as a visual artist, teacher and poet, I studied for two years at a Chinese Medical Institute, the medical application of acupressure, also known as ‘tuina’. I was fascinated by this medical application based on freeing or liberating the ‘chi’ from the channels leading to the different organs, joints and muscles of our body, so that symptoms of feeling sluggish and thus low in energy that might be coupled with back or neck pain, could be improved. In other words, this acupressure procedure directed on the blood channels of a specific organ or pained section of the body, if successful would release or unblock the energy and enable its flow for better circulation which could help to regain a better or balanced homeostasis of the functioning of one’s body. In these studies I saw clearly the relationship and direction for my present and future drawings and paintings, in applying the visualization of lines or channels in movement that represent the power of ‘chi’ flowing and streaming through the human body in different directions with varying degrees of speed, power and the potential to promote healing.
