This series is inspired by the cosmos, the universe and my curiosity about how the atmospheres of the way we inhabit earth are created and lived. I hope the viewers will connect to their imaginations about our universe and our place within it. I used pastels for their vivid colors, the ability to blend colors and to both create "blur" as well as sharp edges. I also enjoy using the "hand" vs. a brush or pencil etc. as it generates an intimate way to connect with the surface I am using. I chose to convey the subject of the cosmos in an abstract way because that is how I interpret it in my own mind.

She holds an MFA from Claremont Graduate University in Claremont, California where she received two Fellowships. Since the early 90's Breslaw has professionally exhibited while exploring the boundaries of painting and is continually experimenting with accessible commercial materials to create large format wall, floor, sculptural and installation works that engage concepts of light, space, and the interconnected and ephemeral nature of life. "Making art has been a continuous thread throughout my life. Punctuated by the joy and reverence I have for nature and a relentless curiosity about the world around me, my work combines painting, drawing and sculpture. Many of my ideas stem from research and reading about space and time as well as structural forms appearing in the natural world. I am especially drawn to transparent-like elements and have been primarily using industrial mesh and other commercial plastic materials to create my works. Layering and examining transparencies as they relate to light and shadow are central to my work. Color plays an integral role in enhancing the atmospheric transparency of the materials. The work, sharing forms of painting, sculpture and installation leads the viewer to take an intimate look at seemingly ordinary materials that because of what has been done to them, transcends their function."
