Hot Summers day Artwork

This is an unframed giclee canvas artwork produced for me by my fine art publisher. Unframed canvas is safer to transport. The building was constructed between 1485 and 1555 and is based in Worcester, England. Naturally there is no air conditioning at that time and you can see from the windows it is a hot summers day. So the females are resting and trying to keep cool. It is a typical use of hard dark material, in this case wood, contrasting with the soft light skin. Also I wanted there to be a large open space with no distractions such as furniture. This was achieved by digitally removing any items, which took ages. To get the lighting effects I wanted I inserted the windows in appropriate places. So whilst the building is real it was necessary to modify it. You would think they would have opened a window given the heat.
