About The Artwork

Transformation. Growth. There is no avoiding it, we shed skin, generate new cells, and change. Whether we embrace it or not is a choice. I spend time thinking about time and our passage through it, how we perceive it and change it through memory. In these collages I am making skins and waiting for them to dry and shrink or ripple, stay smooth. They are an ode to change and also the delight you feel as a child finding a snakeskin in the wilderness.

My current work is driven by my interest in the restorative power of beauty and how it is perceived. I am asking the question: Does the world embody beautiful ideas? What is symmetry, what is the memory of a beautiful feeling, how does that relate to mortality and anxiety? My work is by no means an answer but an exploration of the questions. within my compositions you will find a variety of abstracted natural elements because we contain horizons, storms, gardens, vacant buildings, flowers, animals and faces and new beginnings within us. When we honour them we can come into rhythm in our own lives. Nature is my cathedral, it is where I find inspiration.
