In my latest work,which I've called "Frazioni" (Fractions) I merged my two passions. Using a digital camera I worked on the narration of a story assembling a series of individual moments. Just as memories crop up for brief moments, and then expand, drawing onto other - maybe different - memories, in "Frazioni" I make up a story, a situation assembling a series of photos, sometimes processed in postproduction, to magnify their graphic stroke and to highlight their dynamic strength. The editing does not only rebuild the spatial view but it also documents the passing of the temporal one; the first shot is separated from the last one by time intervals varying in length during which not only the the action changes but also other specific variables can be transformed. I like "tempting" the observer in the reconstruction of those "memories" that are absent due to space or time reasons, and that, precisely because of their absence, belong to everyone, even to those who have never experienced them: a detail of a face leads us to reconstruct it mentally even if we never knew it; a walk-on actor fixed during a movement allows us to guess the next one, no matter if it is not going to be the actual one. Fractions, therefore, that allow us to percieve the whole, however not revealing it. Everyone according to one's own vision... because: NON EST SIGNUM NISI ALIQUID ALIQUO SIGNIFICET (there is no stroke/sign if it means nothing to nobody).
