About The Artwork
I work with the reproduction of the historical portrait, where I insert new associations to the face cutting. The associations are elicited with the portrait itself. I use similar principle at the painting transcription of the photos from the family picture album where I substitute the faces of my relatives with the memoirs of the experiences, which I experienced with them.

I have been doing portrait paintings for the last 20 years. I sometimes think that it is not just fascination, but it has turned into an obsession. I feel that I can react to the many different situations with the different interpretations of the face. I am convinced that I can read the trace of the life experience, but unfortunately not the story. I find the face as an interface between the inner and the outer world, but no one can get beyond that interface. My portrait paintings clearly express this feeling of the unreachable inner world of the portrayed person.
