About The Artwork
This piece is partly inspired by the use of 'trigger' words in advertising such as, 'free' and this combined with the word, 'painting' which it partly is provides an ironic and vibrant image which shouts the information to the viewer. The shadow behind the 'call to action' red in the hand-cut lettering deliberately gives the slogan more power and depth. The street torn posters which form a textural backing to this artwork hopefully show the viewer a contrast between the smooth informative, slick type (in my favourite font, Impact) and the rough, urban decay look of the torn posters yet in the pink and red of the background surface harmonise with the lettering.
