Picture Perfect Paradise

On the face of it, the Grand Cayman Island seems to be an artificial paradise constructed for the wealthy. It is an escape from the development, industry and frantic pace of modern life. These pictures explore that illusion, but reveal a surprisingly solid foundation behind it. The water is truly pristine and unspoiled, without any trace of human waste. As in pastorale painting, this pictures present a fantasy of a harmonic relationship between man and nature, brought to another level by photography's complicated relationship with "reality".
