My studio is a narrow, clumsily partitioned affair with a single odd sliding window facing South at the far end. It sits about 4'-6" off the floor , about 48" in length, 30" high. Most interesting to me is the way it happens to frame the sky and the upper story and roofline of the building across the street. The two elements of the building that hold my attention are the chimney and billboard. I decided one afternoon to study the window and its view with my camera. The results were both surprising and pleasing. The window frame, sky, roof and phone lines made an intriguing composition suggesting a confined space and an almost tactile sky accented by the industrial silhouettes.
