Arguments with a Surface

Energetic gestures interrupt the picture plane in the midst of a reflective, intentional focus on color and material. In my frustration with consumerism, surfaces, and the limits of a photograph, slashes cut into the image. The flat surface of a photograph is a site of frustration - you can never really know more than what you are presented with, and yet, that is also the makings of fantasy and therefore of possibility.
