The Nude

My work changed significantly in the early 90’s after my MA. I made the transition back into figuration and embarked on a significant body of paintings focusing on the male nude, sometimes in isolation and sometimes in small groups. This nude has been a reoccurring motif ever since exploring the female nude in the since 2010, which culminated in my first book. Drawing and Painting The Nude, by The Crowood press. I am interested in asserting the presence of the hand, the mark made with the paint and the figure, trying to capture the essence of the nude, its mass, balance and colour in space.
