Livin' on the Schiz
The title of the series Livin’ on the Schiz is from a Rosalind Krauss essay that distinguishes two different types of grid paintings––“beyond the frame” and “within the frame.” The distinction is between the spiritual, cosmological, or symbolic and the objective and concrete. She goes on to describe the “schizophrenic” nature of works of art that use the grid both ways at once.
