Forest Nymphs

«Mavka» - Ukrainian mythological female figure, the nymph of forest. The series «Forest Nymphs» includes watercolor artworks, depicted souls of the forest. In this painting I wanted to express the beauty of nature and the mythical image of Mavka, the Forest voice. The painting depicts a female portrait, with flowers on her head. Delicate colors hints at the innocence and tenderness of this image. Flowers scattered over Mavka's face, as well as her magnetic gaze, remind of her magical power and mythical origin. The graceful blurred technique of watercolor emphasizes the expressiveness of movements, the depth and volume of the picture.
