“I’ve learned that there’s far more to portrait painting than precise likeness. Layers and textures have become increasingly important elements of my work and have brought a freedom that is taking my painting style in a more abstract direction. In ‘Transfigurations’, the subjects’ faces are deconstructed to allow the viewer the freedom and space to engage with the work.”
