Selective Memory

Selective Memory offers the viewer a time traveler’s glance into the private lives of a mid-century California family. Shot on super 8 film in 1959-1966, these photographic images are Robin Repp's own very personal memories, sometimes chaotic, lifted and revisited as a moment in time. We are there for intimate, family events, enlarged to abstraction, blurred and faded by time. Unreliable memory gives way to sometimes barely recognizable images. Like a personal Zapruder film, viewed over and over again, Robin Repp stops on just a few fleeting frames for a brief glimpse of the past.
