Rusty Nail
In the east of Germany the region of Lusatia has for a long time been dominated by the excavation of brown coal from the surface with huge excavators and steel bridges to separate right away coal and rest material.
Meanwhile many of these coal fields are emptied and left to nature for recovery.
As memorial to this area and the use of sturdy iron machinery a lookout tower was erected with sturdy steel that weathers with a cover of light rust to overlook all this newly gentle wide area - called now Lusatian Lakeland - of forest, fields, channels and lakes inviting for all kind of recreation.
