Owning Her Desire

As bad actors are hell bent on eradicating women's autonomy this series confronts the tool of 'shame' that is used to hold us down. These women own their desire. They pop off the wall, stare out at us, and insist we recognize their autonomy. They are not coyly draped to obscure the clarity of themselves. They assert their sexuality and push back against the pretext of obscenity. They mock the birthright privilege that prioritizes male pleasure. They shatter the proclivity to interpret their behavior through the lens of others wants and the misconception that male pleasure controls both partners narratives. I paint these images aware that the maker does not control the reaction. The narrative springs from the life of the viewer.
