This is an oil painting that I've been working on through the month of september 2022. It's inspired by the incredibly golden light of this month that i felt a strong urge to paint, and by some of the issues about women in the Art History. They have for a long time been considered as bad painters and even worse: painters of too beautiful things. I find that very unfair, but that's ok, this painting is totally inspired by beauty : the golden light, the music I listened to (Adagio of Albinoni) and the colors that make me happy. I've also written some words that I thought about and embroidered the sunlight. That's a hommage to my mother who I've always seen sewing.

Katrine P. Funderud was born in 1968. She lives in Provence but was born and raised in the Oslo-fjord area. She has a master's degree in art history from the University of Provence, where she studied the XIX-century painters who came to work in the Mediterranean landscapes. Her love for nature stems from her childhood in the Norwegian countryside scenery, and it has become one of the primary sources of inspiration in her art. The Art History studies taught her about formal painting techniques that allowed her to compose abstract works. Through the act of creation, Katrine P. Funderud captures the essence of a feeling, a stratum of truth, or the atmosphere of a moment. In large-scale oil paintings, she explores the tension between the dramatic northern landscapes and the colorful, sun-burned South. Her objective is to paint what she is: a melting pot of acquisitions and experiences that make her a being of contradictions and harmony. She exhibits her works in local and international shows, and her paintings are held in private collections in the USA, England, Monaco, Canada, the Netherlands, Norway, and France.
