Thinking about learning as a going concern. How to continuously learn. What to learn. How to unlock the mind, learn a new instrument, speak a new language and learn to learn. Employing desire in the service of learning. Remembering as learning. Practicing as learning. Grasping beginner's mind by the lapels and demanding Speak! My pastel drawings are treated very carefully from the outset of the process. Archival materials are deployed to insure the pieces remain as I've drawn them. When taped to a drawing board so that I can work vertically on an easel a border is masked off. This border is not intended to be seen but to be used as a means to handle and secure the finished piece which taped to another piece of foam core. Then I create a quarter inch build up around the drawing so that glassine can be stretched across the top without coming in contact with the surface of the drawing. A collector would receive them in this protective state. Once taken to a framer I ask that they be framed as seen. Not with the border seen but wit matted over and framed with archival materials. Thank you and good night.
