Nairy Shahinian was born in Damascus 1984, her father being a photographer she joined to work with him in his studio in 2002, after graduating high school in 2005 Nairy started studying photography by correspondence with the New York institute of Photography and later received her professional photography diploma in 2008.
In 2003 she started taking painting classes at the Russian Cultural center, and later took classes with artist Adnan Abdulrahman till 2007.
In 2008 Nairy traveled to Dubai and worked as an assistant photographer with well known photographers such as Phil Baber and Tommy Morris.
After returning to Damascus she started working with Ayyam Gallery as an operations manager, and participated in three collective exhibitions, Li-Lak photography competition at Goethe Institute in Damascus 07, a photography competition held by the British Council in celebration of its 75th anniversary in Aleppo 2009, and in Journee de la Photographe held by the French cultural centre (CCF) in Damascus 2010
Nairy also participated in Pecha Kucha Night in Aleppo, Syrian (VOL.1) in December 2010
