My work ranges from mixed media collages of interiors through more traditional figurative work in oils from life. The latter includes landscape, still lives and increasingly the human figure - both nudes and portraiture.

The majority of the works shown here on Saatchi Online employ collage and transparent acrylic techniques. My aim is typically to capture the essence of a scene - in particular structure, light, perspective and space - in a way which enhances and creates a simplified impression of the subject, whilst remaining essentially representational.

I start with a canvas of arranged glossy images chosen for their colour and tone in harmony with the vision I have in mind. Then I use transparent acrylic paints and dry media where necessary to bring out the final image.

The effect is that the underlying images are often still visible; the resulting pieces have a complexity about them where there is always something new to see.
