I'm a woodland craftsman, and run a small forest school in Yorkshire. We build forest gardens, manage woodlands, show young people resilience through acquiring new skills.
I've been painting landscapes since late 2007. Being outside and having to paint quickly is great fun, and stretching mentally and physically. I took a brief detour into figures in 2010, and continue with life drawing from time to time.
My paintings are an attempt to make sense of my ideas and emotions: they're often simmering under the surface for a long time, but usually are painted in a few hours. I'd like more time to explore more dusty corners in more old timber yards and more forgotten "edgescapes" where deer lurk, where pines creak.
