For the last three decades I have been creating abstract impressionist artwork. From a very early age I found that I was able to apply my artistic talent without much instruction. I attended college at Arizona State University. The paintings that I create consist mainly of oil on canvas, wood & paper. For the last decade I have been concentrating on two main series of paintings, "Dans le jardin" and "Virgin Colour". These abstract impressions are based on nature; the landscape, the garden, the beauty and movement that is found only in those places. Color and texture play important roles within each painting. The fact that there are no limits to what can be created is very simply the reason that I create.
Experiencing Tim Hovde's paintings is like diving into a pool of pure color. Tim uniquely translates his reality into paintings that are visually appealing as abstractions, yet remain true to the essence of his subject. Most of Tims paintings come from the places to which he has traveled; the images that end up on his canvases are often from the places that inspire him. An afternoon spent walking through the Jardin des Tuileries in Paris inspired the Dans le jardin series. He pulled apart the gardens that he visited and painted with a heavy oil texture to show the movement of the flowers on a breezy day, along with the background of vines and leaves, eventually exposing the garden for what it is - nature.…Read More
