Sharon Clabo

About

Sharon Clabo's paintings are typically both subtle and bold; restrained and assertive. They are influenced by the human senses, by recorded and unrecorded history, by color (and its absence); by space, line, form, density and weight. Playfulness, risk-taking, and the high adventure inherent in all creativity are vital components of her work.

Typically, she works with acrylics, but loves experimenting with other media, making hand-pressed monotypes, and incorporating stitched paper and fabric into paintings.

On any given day you might see her in the yard scraping a painting, hosing it down, and/or spraying it with hydrogen peroxide, alcohol, coffee, tea, or salt water. For her there is no such thing as a destroyed canvas or sheet of paper..something can always be salvaged or changed..and in wonderfully unexpected ways.

A video of a recent gallery show with Georgia potter Jim Sandefur can be seen here:

Her most recent solo show was in July at the 567 Cafe Gallery in Macon, GA. Another solo show will be held at the Roasted Cafe gallery, also in Macon, in November.
