I am a multi-media artist. I make images and experience. I find beauty in everyday things, the forgotten, the dilapidated, the ignored or taken for granted. My images and performances celebrate the mundane and exalt the everyday to history and icon. My work achieves a balance between composition, materials and meaning.

In my performance pieces, I often make rules and parameters that limit my behavior, this makes opportunity for artistic exchange.

My art is a collection of thoughts, places or events that once created, are saved from oblivion. Reoccurring themes also create a tempo and pattern throughout my work. Nostalgia, education and learning, neglect, history, storytelling and diary keeping are concepts that have contributed to my visual discourse.

Formally, when an art piece has turned out well, all of the elements work in unison. Materials, concept, form; nothing is out of place.

Conceptual themes focus on growth and decay, improvement and failure, education and communication. Each piece can stand as a herald for my entire catalog of artwork.

Texture and pattern are vital elements in my picture making. It is a visual mixture that dances the viewer’s eye across and around the surface.

I embrace the ideal of revealing the materials and craft in my work. Breadth and variety of topics and media with a heavy conceptual bent is what directs my personal practice. Focusing solely on formalistic concerns undervalues the power and shirks my responsibility as an artist.
