As casual observers we tend to overlook our ever changing environment. My paintings therefore focus the viewer on artifacts of human existence and represent the landscape as a series of moments in constant transition. I treat all objects as structural elements and employ successive layers of paint to develop an immersive atmosphere that establishes a varied state of tension with the landscape. Through this contrast of rigid form and atmosphere I hope to enhance the viewer’s perception of reality, without a sense of time or a desire to move on.
