Geert Blanchart is a Belgian artist born in 1966 in Leuven, Belgium. He began painting at the age of 12, and his body of work encompasses not only paintings; but also drawings and three-dimensional compositions with a painting connotation.
He is a recognized “Flemish Expressionist” artists, who’s main theme is the “skin if reality”. These words best encompass the flavor of his compositions. “Relief, patina, injury, originates in the evolution of time and in the dedication to existence.”
Geert uses multiple approaches to his art, these layers of composition use rare objects, people and photographs evoking an era of collect fragments. He tries to catch the changing values of things and people and project the context that suggests a metaphor of pain and dedication.
His current work is a series of “Flemish Old Masters” figures entitled “Painted with Mayonnaise” In these paintings you ll find his view on colours and compostition.
Geert recently completed a series built around the word “Euphoria”. He is fascinated by the infinite human capacity to bear almost anything.
Geert is a graduate of the “Academy of Arts – Sculpters & Paintings” in Antwerp. His work has been seen in exhibits in Belgium and abroad. He currently resides in Antwerp, Belgium.
