About

Aimy Palogiannidou was born in 1981 in Athens. She studied Painting at the Athens School of Fine Arts and she graduated with honors in 2009. In 2011 she graduated from Central Saint Martins College of Art and Design where she completed her MA Fine Art course.During her 6 month stay in Rotterdam and her frequent trips to London, New York and other European cities, she was inspired by the urban environments and the architectural development and she tried to depict the worlds constant transformation. Her art focuses on the conflicts between expressive and geometrical forms that result in a harmonic relationship. She believes in the hidden harmony that results by the contrasts. A transition occurs from fluid to solid and kinetic to rigid states and vice versa. Her love of philosophy and sciences are key factors that affect her work. She believes in the crossover of art, science and philosophy as well as the mixture of different art mediums. She has a great interest in the metallic element and a strong intention for experimentation with the properties of these materials. It is obvious that she flirts with sculpture and the three dimensions however she considers Painting to be behind every visual expression.Influenced by the art of De Stijl and the School of Bauhaus the concepts of structure, construction and geometrical design come to meet the display of art in urban spaces, receiving Urban Art elements. She is interested in the idea of space, internal or external. Read More
